Sari Bari is a freedom business where women who have been exploited in the sex trade or who are vulnerable to trafficking can experience a new life in the making. With each stitch, a life is transformed. With each thread, hope is woven into a woman’s future.

We offer freedom to women who are trapped in the sex trade, and also provide opportunities to those who are vulnerable to being trafficked. We do this by providing employment in a safe, loving environment, where women are trained as artisans. As they create beautiful, sustainable and handmade products, while they’re also making a new life for themselves.

The name "Sari Bari" was birthed from two words and symbols of freedom...

A ‘sari’ is the traditional clothing worn by women in India. Here, it represents the essence of womanhood.

The word ‘bari’ means "house or home" in the Bengali language, spoken by the women of Kolkata.
